Decatur farmers market plans

Construction on the new Decatur Farmers Market plans to begin in 2023. City officials have said architects have submitted several designs and are currently reworking more options for a less-costly option.

According to the Decatur Morgan County Tourism Facebook page, the drawing is scheduled to go out for bid the second week of February, with a planned March 7th bid opening.

Early plans include 18 truck-adjacent vendor stalls, 26 covered vendor stalls, a multipurpose lawn with vendor tent capability, public restrooms and office and storage spaces. These plans also included a 1,000-square-foot multipurpose room that could be rented for weddings and events.

The city hopes this new Decatur Farmers Market will draw in tourists and have the capability of being open year-round.
