Things to Do: Summer Events at the Cook Museum of Natural Science

summer events at the Cook Museum of Natural Science

Let the natural world brighten the season in unexpected ways with tons of summer events at the Cook Museum of Natural Science to choose from each week!

Live Animal Enrichment

This recurring summer event happens every Sunday throughout June and July from noon to 5 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to observe live animals in the Discover Exhibit terrariums.

Watch and learn as they explore and exemplify their own natural behaviors!

Craft & Coloring Summer Series

Get colorful on Tuesdays at the Cook Museum with different children’s crafts and coloring activities each week from 10 a.m. to noon during June and July.

Science on the Spot

Another of the recurring summer events at the Cook Museum of Natural Science is Science on the Spot. These enlightening sessions happen each Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Learn about the natural wonder of the world from cranes to caribous to frogs to moving water to hummingbirds.

Oceans Tank Feeding

Consider sticking around the museum on Wednesday for this June and July recurring event. Watch the fish feeding each week at 3:30 p.m. followed by a Q&A session with the Animal Care crew.

Stories in the Store

Let your kids get wild and creative as they take on an active role in storytelling during Stories in the Store every Thursday this summer at 9:30 a.m. outside of the museum store! New stories are read each week.

A few upcoming special events

Besides the engaging weekly events happening all summer long, Cook Museum also hosts special events too.

For instance, treat your dad to a day that’s “All About Him” on Saturday, June 18th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore exhibits, make a card, take a special photo and maybe score Dad a small gift while supplies last.

While you are there, go ahead and find out more about the Fantastic Fish Collectible Cards June 18th-24th.

You can find these summer events at the Cook Museum of Natural Science (and much more!) at 133 Fourth Ave. Northeast in downtown Decatur.

Keep up with summer hours, events and fun when you get social with the museum on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
