From princesses to pups to parades, there is tons of family fun to be had at this annual Carnegie Visual Arts Center fundraising event. But the fun doesn’t just happen on parade day.

In fact, there are special events throughout carnival season. Wondering what’s happening when?

Parade Day

In the meantime, we do want to share a few of the big things happening the day of the parade.

For starters, rise and shine and get ready to run in the Carnival Frolic 13.1 2022. Register here before heading to Founders Park at 905 Canal St. at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26th.

The 13.1-mile race course is USATF certified. It winds along the Tennessee River, through Decatur’s historic district and Point Mallard Park.

Not in the mood for 13 miles? Check out the 5K relay instead.

Next on the agenda is fun for the kids. This year’s carnival will feature the Carnival Midway. Located on First Avenue at the Decatur Farmers Market, the midway will have a variety of carnival-style games.

Armbands are $5 for unlimited play with activities kicking off at noon. Then pop over to the Creation Station and let the kids get creative with free art projects!

Don’t forget to include the family pet in the festivities too. Dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome to put on their Mardi Gras best and strut their stuff in the Carnival Canines on Parade 2022 at 2:30 p.m.

Last but not least, Carnegie Carnival 2022 wraps up the full day with the official Carnegie Carnival Parade at 6 p.m. There will be floats, beads, music and more.

After a long day of Mardi Gras celebrations, you can be back in the comfort of your Summer Key apartment after about a 12-minute drive. For more community news and events, keep reading our blogs!
