Things to Do: Visit the Enchanted Forest of Decatur

Visit the Enchanted Forest of Decatur

Only in December could you start your work-week off bright—sparkly even– with a visit to the Enchanted Forest of Decatur at Founders Park and The Daikin Amphitheater—now through January 1! Better yet, make your Saturday plans and add another sweet holiday event to the to-do list.

Founders Park is Aglow!

Stroll along the fun and festive path lined with seven-foot firs beautifully decorated by members of the community.

For the second year, the Enchanted Forest of Decatur is raising awareness and funds in support of the Decatur Leukemia & Lymphoma Society team “4D,” a non-profit that is part of the health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Trees are sponsored by local individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and churches.

Visit the Enchanted Forest of Decatur now through January 1 and enjoy a holiday tradition—even if it is a little different this year. The free family-friendly event is following public safety guidelines and practicing social distancing with a one-way walking path. Make sure to include a warm face covering to wear when you bundle up and venture into public spaces.

Sweeten Your Saturday

The first-ever Downtown Decatur Cookie Walk is this Saturday, Dec. 12. Enjoy tasty treats at local shops and find special gifts for your family and friends while you’re at it!

Today is the deadline to reserve your reusable shopping bag to participate in the Downtown Decatur Cookie Walk, brought to you by the Enchanted Forest of Decatur and Downtown Decatur Merchants. Bags are $28 and may be purchased via PayPal.

Bags can be picked up from the Decatur Church of Christ Outreach location at 240 Grant St. in Downtown Decatur from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Not only will the day be sweetened with delicious cookies at each stop, but you will also receive the reusable shopping bag, a map of participating locations, a hand-crafted tea towel, and a hand-crafted commemorative Christmas ornament.
