A Decatur holiday tradition is slated to continue this year despite the many curveballs that 2020 has thrown our way. We’re talking about the Historic Decatur Christmas Tour of Homes 2020 on Dec. 12th! Read up on this year’s changes and everything to look forward to this season.
About the Tour
Happening annually on the second Saturday in December, this Historic Decatur Christmas Tour of Homes features a selection of historic homes and sites dressed to impress for the holidays. This 40-year-old tradition raises money for the Historic Decatur Association, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of properties in Decatur’s designated historic districts.
Decatur’s Historic Districts
Decatur boasts two historic districts: Old Decatur Historic District and Albany Historic District. Each home in these districts that is served by the Historic Preservation Commission of Decatur is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Residents of Decatur’s historic districts take pride in their seasonal décor. This gives you something to look forward to for the Historic Decatur Christmas Tour of Homes 2020.
This Year’s Event
Walk or drive-by the tour’s outdoor sites to take in an abundance of Christmas splendor. Or, take a look at a selection of virtual tour sites from the comfort of your own home.
Businesses in Decatur’s two downtown shopping districts will also be inviting patrons to stop by and see their décor, while checking some items off of their gift lists as well.
