Shoveling snow in your neighbors’ driveways during an icy winter. Bringing a bottle of water to your local mail deliverers. Giving a kind word to someone on a tough day. There are so many ways to make a positive difference in the world. Now, a new opportunity to help others has arrived: the Smokin’ on the Sod Cook Off, which raises funds for Mosaic of North Alabama. If you want to join in and get cooking, make sure to sign up before the event gets started on Sept. 12.
What is Smokin’ on the Sod Cook Off?
The Smokin’ on the Sod Cook Off is a brand new fundraising event—and it’s bringing tons of flavor to the table. Competitors can cook wings, ribs, or both at Page’s Sod Farm on Sept. 12. The winners can earn $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $150 for third place. Plus, they can also enjoy knowing that they’ve done their part to earn money for Mosaic of North Alabama.
What is Mosaic of North Alabama?
Mosaic of North Alabama is a local charity that operates in Lawrence, Morgan, Cullman, and Winston counties. It aims to bring guidance and support to lives of children in need, by giving them mentors. It also has a program for teens, where they can mentor children in elementary school. If you want to support them directly, you can visit their donation page here.
In just a few days, the Smokin’ on the Sod Cook Off will have officially arrived. Contact them at 256-303-1252 if you want to register for this Sept. 12 event. Tickets cost $50 for one category and $75 for both. You’ll need to turn in your cooked wings at 1 p.m. and your cooked ribs at 5 p.m. at 23477 Huntsville Brownsferry Road.
